Shattered!!

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I removed the section to wash it. As soon as I started to wash it the thing exploded like nothing I™€™ve ever seen before! The glass flew everywhere sticking in my arms and all in my hair. I would not replace this glass with this replacement glass. It™€™s extremely dangerous!

Dangerous Glass Shelf Shattered Without Warning

I am extremely concerned about my experience with the GE WR32X10156 glass shelf/plate. I had never experienced anything like this before, and it created a serious safety hazard. I pulled out the bottom crisper drawer to sort through my vegetables and clean the area. I noticed a small amount of red liquid had spilled on the drawer frame. As I carefully slid out the glass shelf to clean it, the glass suddenly exploded into millions of tiny shattered pieces without warning. Glass flew in every direction. Most frighteningly, two small fragments flew directly into my eye. The pieces were so tiny that they became stuck behind my eyelids, and I had to immediately flush my eyes thoroughly with water to remove them. There was no obvious reason for the glass to suddenly shatter like this. I was simply removing the shelf during normal cleaning. A refrigerator shelf should be able to withstand routine handling without violently breaking and sending tiny shards of glass across the room and into someone's eyes. I am sharing this experience because I believe consumers should be aware of the potential safety risk with the GE WR32X10156. What should have been a routine cleaning task turned into a frightening and potentially serious eye injury. I would not feel comfortable purchasing this replacement glass again after what happened.
